The Cut
No other material on earth can
capture and reflect light the
way a diamond does. But transforming
light into brilliance requires
exceptional human skill. The cut
of a diamond is the most important of
the 4 “C’s”. When a diamond is cut
to excellent proportions, all the light
entering the diamond from any direction
is dispersed and then reflected back out of
the diamond creating fire and brilliance.
Cut refers to the proportions of a faceted stone.
Diamonds can be cut into almost any shape. The most
popular shape is the Round Brilliant. Other shapes
include the oval, square, marquise, pear, heart and
emerald cuts and a variety of fancy cut shapes.
